About Butter & Bake
Butter & Bake is a warm and cosy baking studio located in the central part of Singapore, with a vibrant baking community within the space itself. Our space caters for all kinds of baking classes taught by our experienced baking instructors.
Our aim is to be Singapore’s leading home grown lifestyle baking studio.
WHAT WE DO: Memorable baking parties for kids and adults. Interactive hands-on baking classes. Uniquely fun corporate baking workshops. Guided baking sessions and rentals.
OUR MISSION: To make baking fun and simple, such that everyone can bake! From kids to adults, from totally new bakers to the more seasoned bakers, we hope to inspire you on your baking journey. Butter & Bake believes in creating memorable experiences through baking. Whether it is to celebrate special occasions, milestones or a family or company gathering, we believe that baking can help to bond people closer together and enhance interaction, all while learning a valuable new skill.
HOW IT STARTED: It started from the deep interest in baking, which turned into a passion, and translated into the desire to share this passion with everyone else. We wanted baking to be something that everyone could pick up and something that was fun to do with those who matter.
OUR THOUGHTS ON BAKING: Baking just isn’t about putting something into the oven- it’s about the experience that you gain through baking, the times you shared with people whom you baked with and the memories that will carry you through. Beneath all those recipes are baking techniques we hope to instill to those who come into our baking studio for this wonderful baking experience.
Who We Are
Felicia Lee - Founder
Felicia is a self-taught baker, and frequently attends pastry masterclasses to improve her skills. Previously trained in music education specializing in piano performance and teaching, she left an established piano education career to focus on her passion- baking. She started Butter & Bake as a co-sharing kitchen space first, and was inspired to turn it to a studio after having found no baking classes like the ones she attended while travelling overseas- baking classes that were ‘out of the norm’; those that were fun, interactive and enjoyable, something which people would look forward to for all occasions. Currently, she oversees the business operations of the studio.
Elijah Tan - Head Instructor
Elijah was formally trained in data science and operations management in SMU but his passion brought him to the world of culinary arts. He interned in F&B groups like Les Amis to learn more about the industry while attending night culinary classes in university.
ElijahPies, an artisan pie company, was also founded in his final year of studies. They supply and collaborate with a host of cafes and restaurants to expand their selection of desserts. ElijahPies has been featured in many media outlets like 8 Days Eats and Her World. Now after graduating, Elijah divides his time between running ElijahPies and teaching other aspiring bakers at Butter&Bake.
Serene Mok- Chef Instructor
With a decade of pastry experience, including formative & experimental years of setting up patisseries in Singapore, F & B consultancy for coffee chain in China alongside with thousand of miles of self-guided international pastry & culinary education under her belt, Serene now spends considerable time coaching and teaching baking, especially to special needs youths. While the passion for pastry marches on, she is currently working on a cookbook that crystallizes the essence of her kaleidoscope of learning experiences.
Jane Tan - Chef Instructor
Chef Jane Tan is a world-class baker who graduated from Le Cordon Bleu in Sydney with a Diploma in Patisserie, was awarded the Hans Schings Award, and returned in 2014 to be a guest speaker at their October Graduation Ceremony. She then gained experience working at Pattisons Patisserie (Australia) as a pastry chef before setting her sights further.
Chef Jane Tan has also worked with, and assisted, many big names in the world chef showcase; people like:
- Matt Moran
- Luke Nguyen
- Adriano Zumbo
- Chef Andre Sandison and Chef Justin (For the 2012 Asian Pastry Cup; winning team)
She has also worked as a decorator for cake Faye Cahill, one of the top cake artists in Australia, and has had her cake featured at the Royal Easter Cake Show in Sydney. She has also won the SCS competition, and has assisted with the GD group (Gurney Drive; Penang Culture; Penang St. Buffet; Mamak Culture) as a consultant. She was last lecturing at SHATEC (Singapore Hotel and Tourism Education Centre) as a chef instructor.
