Chocolate chip cookies- my ultimate comfort food. There’s something magical about a good chocolate chip cookie- it’s really nostalgic and I won’t get sick of eating it.
To me, a good chocolate chip cookie has crisp edges but a soft and ever so slightly chewy center, a lot of chocolate, a good balance of sweet and salty and dough that has a good flavor of its own. All of these elements are subjective but they are what I look for in my perfect cookie. So this to me, is the best chocolate chip cookie recipe- it’s made of…. BROWN BUTTER! Browning butter is a basic technique that considerably changes the flavor of anything it touches. Browning butter is very easy because all you’re doing is melting butter on the stove. This melting method gently cooks the butter until it develops a nutty flavor and toasted aroma. It’s just so good!
Welcome to the brown butter addiction.
It’s an additional step might just take a while longer to get to your cookie dough. But let me tell you, it’s so worth it.
So we start off with melting some butter in a pot over the stove. After the butter has completely melted, continue cooking on medium heat until the butter turns a light amber color and smells nutty. Immediately remove from heat and pour into a heat-proof bowl.
The next few steps will be a lot easier. Basically all you have to do is to mix all the ingredients together. Start with the melted butter and both sugars.
Then the eggs, flour and of course the chocolate chips!
Now are you ready for some cookie baking?
